Meet Coach Andrew
Coach Andrew, or as his 312 whānau calls him, Anaru, is more than just a coach – he’s the guy who brings the humor, banter, and passion to every class. Andrew’s great with kids and loves helping others succeed, whether it’s in fitness or life. His warm personality and coaching expertise create an environment where everyone feels welcome and supported, from seasoned athletes to newcomers.
Andrew’s journey to coaching is a unique one – he once had a dream about coaching, and from that moment, he knew it was his calling. His passion for teaching and guiding others makes him an invaluable part of our community. With a great sense of humor and always up for some friendly banter, Andrew keeps everyone on their toes in the best way possible.
As an amazing athlete, Andrew is all about taking on a challenge. He’s even suggested taking on multiple MURPHs in one day just for fun! His enthusiasm for pushing limits and his love for a tough workout keep our community inspired and ready for whatever comes next. Q: What’s your favorite movement/workout in the gym?
A: Favourite Workout: Murph; Favourite Movement: Bar Muscle Ups
Q: How long have you been coaching?
A: 8 months
Q: What’s one piece of advice you give to every new member?
A: Get stuck in, everyone is friendly, and don’t be afraid to ask questions. We love coaching and helping people as best we can.
Q: What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
A: I have a lot of useless facts and sports knowledge in my head… and a library of dad jokes too!
Q: What’s one thing you always tell your athletes?
A: To have fun and don’t die! Meaning, go hard in the workouts but remember, we’re all here to get better, so have fun along the way.


Q: How did you get started in fitness?
A: I grew up playing as many sports as possible – cricket, rugby, and golf being my favourites. I started CrossFit at uni and haven’t looked back since.
Q: What motivates you as a coach?
A: I love seeing people achieve their goals. Helping someone get their first pull-up, muscle-up, or hit a PB is incredibly satisfying.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of the 312 Fortitude family?
A: It’s the fact that it really is a family. Everyone is so welcoming, and it’s fun to test yourself against your mates and have a laugh doing it.”
